BMW i8---
BMW India presented the new generation of individual mobility by unveiling the BMW i8, the all-new BMW X5 and the all-new BMW M6 Gran Coupe at the 12th Auto Expo 2014. The all-new BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo was also launched in India.
Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India said, "We are on the verge of a new era of sustainable individual mobility and a revolutionary interpretation of BMW's hallmark driving pleasure. The BMW i presents a ground-breaking concept with visionary electric vehicles and mobility services, creating a new understanding of luxury that is strongly defined by sustainability. BMW i plays an important role in our future product strategy and as a sign of our commitment to this market, we will bring our revolutionary BMW i8 to India later this year."
The BMW i8 will be launched in India as a CBU (Completely Built-up) unit by end of 2014.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio hatchback---
Maruti Suzuki India, India's largest car-maker on Thursday unveiled the Celerio hatchback at the Auto Expo 2014. The hatchback, whose bookings had began some time ago has been priced at Rs 3.90 lakh.
Maruti claims that the hatchback has a fuel efficiency of 23.1 km per litre. Celerio is a 3600mm long and 1600mm wide hatchback which will take on the Hyundai i10.
The Celerio sits on a 2425mm wheelbase. All versions of the Celerio, however, will only be powered by a petrol engine and there are no plans to launch for a diesel variant either.
The Celerio might only come with one engine but there will be an option to choose between a manual and an automatic. The manual is a 5-speed gearbox while the automatic is essentially a clutchless manual. The Celerio will be available in three trim levels - Lxi, Vxi and Zxi - with the Zxi being the top of the line version.
One will be able to order the Lxi and the Vxi trims with either the manual or what Maruti calls its semi automatic - the Auto Gear Shift tech, the Zxi trim will only be available with a manual gearbox.
The engine is the same as the one on the Wagon R. It is an all-aluminium, 998cc, three-cylinder petrol engine that develops a max power output of 68PS at 6000rpm and a peak torque of 90Nm at 3500rpm. Given that the Celerio only weighs 830kg in its heaviest form, the manual version, like the A-star, makes for a peppy little car.
The Celerio is the replacement for the A-star. And it offers more in terms on interior room to begin with. It has wider track lengths - front and rear, and a wheelbase that's almost as long as the Swift (there's only a 5mm difference in the wheelbases of the two cars).

Land Rover showcases Range Rover LWB--
With an increase of nearly 186mm, the Long Wheel Base model is all about luxury and that is exactly what this Range Rover has to offer. Besides more legroom, the Range Rover LWB offers executive class seats that recline 17 degrees (8 degrees in the standard version). The pampering continues with the 10.2 inch screens at the rear and deployable tables.
Under the hood, the Range Rover gets a 503bhp and 625Nm churning 5.0-litre engine. It is the price tag of nearly Rs. 3.5 crore that makes it a haloed product, and if you have the money to splurge on luxury then why not go in for this one?
The Autobiography variant is available with two engine options – 5.0-litre supercharged petrol engine and 4.4-litre turbo diesel engine.
The Land Rover Range Rover is made up of an aluminium body and the company’s engineers have stretched the body and increased the wheelbase by 8-inches and the leg space has been improved by 5.5-inches. With the Range Rover LWB, you can opt for reclining seats available with the executive seating package. Heck, the company has even added a massage option with the seats, just in case you’re too busy to go to a massage clinic. Right now, the LWB option will be available only with the Autobiography and Supercharged variants but we are expecting the company to extend the LWB range to the other variants too.

All in all, the Range Rover LWB is a great option for those who love travelling or rather relaxing in the back seat away from the maddening traffic and hustle-bustle of the city. Even 2014 the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a good option for buyers to consider but if you’re looking at travelling through some rough roads and want to try out off-roading once in a blue moon, then this is the vehicle for you. The Range Rover will offer the utmost comfort while on the road and it will show off its real capabilities when you take it off the road.
